R. Scropper, Numismatist

Well howdy there Coin Collectors – I’m Russell Scropper, you can call me Rusty.

Welcome to CoinSniper.com – I’ve worked very hard to make it the most fun way to grow and improve your coin collection. If this kind of numismatic auction is new to you, check this out: How CoinSiper Works.

I’m a numismatist, hopefully something like you.  I love playing with coins.  Other people like playing with dogs or legos or dolls, and that’s all fine.  But my thing is handling old pieces of art, history, and anthropology – coins – in my very own hands.  To me that’s real neat – being able to feel and see something that was used in every day life 100 or 1000 years ago.

Or sometimes it’s just that what I have in front of me, this little coin, is such a beautiful piece of art and propoganda – it’s a lovely thing to behold.  I like lovely things.

And they don’t have to be shiny.  A lot of people like shiny coins, and I do too, but there’s a real soft spot in my heart for old American coppers – things like Fugios and Draped Bust Cents.  Some people love their shiny Morgans with proof-like fields, and they are stunning to see.  But that doesn’t get my heart going pitter-patter like holding a 1794 with a bit of wear that could have been used by George Washington or Thomas Jefferson while they were making important decisions and trying to get this country off on the right foot.

I also enjoy great food (nothing too mild, but nothing too spicy for me), and I love old cars, too.  But I’m really into coins.  And I guess you are too, hopefully that’s how you ended up here.

CoinSniping auctions are really fun when you win.  It’s fun, but not nearly so when you don’t.  In the end, using your brains, you have the opportunity to do very, very well. As a buyer of coins through auctions, I wanted to share excitement for coins with a new generation.  I hope you appreciate what I’m trying to do – to bring something different to our field – and to make coin collecting even more fun.

I’m hoping to use CoinSniper.com to improve my collection a little bit. Don’t be fooled, this is a tough business to be in! If you like, keep up with what’s going on in Rusty’s Diary.

I welcome you to CoinSniper.com, and I welcome your suggestions.

And happy CoinSniping!  May you be the last bidder standing with a nice neat coin for your collection!

Happy hunting,
Rusty Scropper
